Profile of Mr. Farhan Ata Arain (CEO)
Mr. Farhan Ata Arain is the Chief Executive of AMBER CAPACITORS LIMITED (ACL). He also is the son of the late chairman, Mr. Ataur Rahman Arain. Mr. Arain was born in 1967, in Karachi, which is the largest city of Pakistan. His parents moved to Lahore in 1968. Mr. Arain was educated in Lahore. He entered The University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore in 1986. While in his 3rd semester, he transferred to Illinois Institute of Technology (I.I.T), Chicago, U.S.A. There, he finished his Bachelors in Electrical Engineering in 1989 with flying colours. As a result, he was offered teaching assistantship for his post-graduate work at I.I.T. which he accepted, and finished his Masters in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 1991.
He returned to Pakistan in 1991, and joined his father in running of Amber Capacitors, which had only just started its commercial production. With time and his strong background and knowledge of computers and web development, he established various I.T. related systems country-wide. He also developed and is currently maintaining AMBER’s website, which has resulted in very broad and world-wide exposure of the company and the products. In 1998, he started working towards the International Quality Certification, ISO9000. At that time the trend was to attain ISO9002, which excluded original design. Instead, he chose to strive for the more prestigious ISO9001, which included original design. Amber Capacitors Limited attained ISO9001 certification in June 1999.
- He kept on striving for better standards and quality as a result of which AMBER achieved ISO9001:2000 certification in August 2003.
In June 2009, under his able guidance, AMBER was one of the first companies in Pakistan to attain ISO9001:2008.
Mr. Arain’s time is split between monitoring both the domestic marketing activities, and the financial side of the company. His interest and know-how in I.T. means that AMBER always stays up to date with the latest trends in technology and products. He is also looking after the increasing export markets, including USA, Kuwait and many others. Mr. Arain has travelled extensively all over the world, including US where he studied, Australia, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Singapore, Malaysia, France, England etc.
